Twitter users must have noticed this problem. Twitter has a Find People tool where you should be able to Search other Twitter users by Name or Location and later choose to follow them. I am not really sure when was the problem started but it had existed since the first day I register my first (I got a few accounts) Twitter account. That was more than 30 days ago! When you hit the Find button, it will show you this message with a cool little picture below (maybe to cool down the user, sigh):
Find People in Twitter is an essential tool because sometimes you only know somebody and want to know whether they have a Twitter account. Something similar to Find Friends tool in Facebook. For example, you want to know whether Mr. Barrack Obama (he’s US President, idiot!) has a Twitter account because as a supporter, you want to track, or in Twitter lingo, follow what he was doing. You’re lucky if he put a link to his Twitter account in his official website or blog. But if he don’t, you expect to turn to Twitter service itself to find him.
Touted as another phenomenal thing to happen in social networking industry, Twitter is expected to become as big as Facebook or MySpace in its own style. With it’s reputation, I find it hard to accept that Twitter took such a long time to solve the above problem.
Does anybody know how to workaround this problem? Do you know any other tools that I can use to find other Twitter users by name? If you do, please leave your comment below or you can tweet me at twitter.com/ssroslan
