There are lots of free icons offered by lots of designers out there, but icon sets listed below are my favorites at the moment. These icon sets are suitable for blogs or other web related projects and resemble Web 2.0 or new social network design trends. They normally share the same characteristics i.e. 3D, glossy, and bright colors.

Smashing Magazine has establish itself as a reputable and popular resources for today’s social media in short period of times. To date, they have tonnes of high quality design resources and references ranging from icon sets, wallpapers, web design, Wordpress themes etc. to help you build a good blog or website. The Leaves Fall icon set is just another example of it’s quality offerings. They normally worked with designers who want to promote their work at Smashing Magazine and most of their featured icon sets are free.

Another featured icon set from Smashing Magazine. I like this icons because of it’s simplicity.

It looks compact and neat, colorful with shadow effect, and yet still maintaining the professional looks and feel.

I think most of the blogs out there must have RSS feed for their blogs to keep in touch with their visitors. Instead of having a boring RSS icons, you can use this icons from nyssajbrown to attract your blog visitors to click and subscribe to your blog. Looks like a bubble gum to me.. yum..yum!
10. Mini Web Development Icons from IcoJoy
